How do I move out on my own for college without straining the relationship with my parents?
Ok...Im a 17 yr old college freshman at a cuny school in nyc. My parents live in upstate New York and they agreed to let me stay at my aunts house. Its only been half a semester but it just hasnt been working out. I would rather have all of the freedoms of going away to college. I really want to live on campus but my parents complained it was too expensive and I understood. I thought living with my aunt would be okay, but I realized that I fell for one of my parents ploys and now Im stuck. Its like I am 2 years old and I have no control of my life! I don't want to seem like im ranting, but whenever I ask why, the answer that I always get is that “Im seventeen and too young”. They only see the academics of college and not the social part of it. I want to make a move but Im not sure how to. I have no startup money to get up on my feet and plus Im seventeen, so if I did leave, I wouldnt have many options. I turn 18 in a month and I want to leave with no hard feelings. Any suggestions?
