Stanford Summer Session (only answer if u went or know someone who did)?

I was invited to the stanford summer session and I'm planning on going. I was wondering how much freedom they give you. Can you basically do whatever you want when you don't have cles or is there no time with all of the activities? My friend and I were thinking about getting pes for Great America and going there once or twice a week, and we might go hang out in San Francisco for a day or two. Would we be able to do this without missing any of the weekend activities or just one or two of them? Do they let u drive/take BART/the bus/etc.? We also want to play tennis and maybe golf so do you have to bring your own equipment or can you borrow some?
