Why are the women on these boards so vicious about men?

In the dark days of male chauvenism it's true that women had a rough time of it. Yet these days the backlash is so much worse. I've never heard a man, no matter how chauvenist, call for the eradication of women or promote the idea that women are obsolete. Admittedly, in general, posters on here tend to be a little more extreme in their views than most but come on, isn't becoming more hateful than the thing you hate detrimental to your cause? Every day there are the "why is it that men can't/don't/are useless" etc etc. If I were to post the same in reverse I'd get violation after violation. I don't seek a return to the old ways, I seek equality, not this ever increasing see saw of us v them (this goes for other arguements as well as this)
