How does car insurance work?

Okay I live in MN...by law we have to have car insurance. We also have to have our spouse on the policy. That is where my problem comes in. My husbands license is revoked, and if he can't get his drivers license reinstated then they will drop my policy. What can I do? I need to be covered, but if I have to put my husband on my policy no one will insure me, and that would be illegal for me to drive without insurance.
