Question about pulling teeth and braces?

Removing the premolars is common with braces. Depending on your gums and underlying bone structure, your gum line may or may not weaken. If you're concerned, you could talk to your general dentist about the state of your gums and bone. If they're in good shape, the only other problem is gum recession. This can happen if your teeth are going to be moved in a drastic position, and the gum line is already compromised due to placement of your teeth. Remedies to this is normally a gum graft and/or veneers after you remove your braces. If the orthodontist didn't think the gum line would be any problems, you can either respect his opinion and go forward or find another orthodontist.
