A question about World Wars?

What are the requirements for a war in order for it to achieve the label of 'world war'? I am wondering because WWI and WWII did not necessarily have all of the world at war (at least not physically). But what about other wars after that? They do involve more than 2 nations so how come they aren't called World Wars?
